In a lashup reminiscent of years past, BNSF 1648 is coupled to BNSF 1693 at the south end of the yard at Wichita. These two have both been in this local power pool for years, and interestingly, this was the first time in over four years that L-KAN009 had an entirely original paint consist. The two veteran EMDs are idling as they await permission to begin building their local freight to take south to Arkansas City later in the evening.
