Conrail and Reading heritage units pull 25V west around Bennington Curve. Sadly, the curve is most remembered by the tragic event on February 18th 1947. Shortly after 3 am. Pennsylvania Railroad passenger train #68 (the Red Arrow), running east over an hour late, sped towards the curve at over twice curve speed (30 mph). It jumped off track 2. Slid across tracks 3 and 4. Then over the steep man made embankment behind the locomotives you see. At the time, there were no trees at all. And the crash down the over 80' drop took the lives of 22 and injured 124. Though those numbers vary a bit.
